Last summer, I earned an entry in a Stella & Dot contest for consistent sales; the prize was the opportunity to name a piece in the Spring 2013 collection. There were a few drawings at our national conference in San Francisco, but after Hoopla was over, I forgot about it.
About a month later, my friend and fellow stylist, Rene, posted a congratulations message on my Facebook wall. I had no idea what she was talking about, but I soon found out my name was drawn, and I would get to name a piece of jewelry. There was no doubt for whom I would name my piece: whether it was a necklace, a bracelet, or earrings, there would be something called Meredith in the Stella & Dot Spring Collection.
I eagerly awaited an email with a picture of my piece, but when I saw it, I burst into tears. I expected something rich, bold, and colorful for spring, like these pieces from past collections:
Instead, I saw a bracelet with brown, ivory, and gold beads, which was lackluster compared to the picture I had in my mind. My mom and Susan tried to reassure me, but I just couldn’t reconcile my expectation with reality. Mom, though, admired the different colors and shapes of the beads, and she liked the little tassel hanging from it. The bracelet reminded her of the beach, and she was already thinking of other bracelets she could wear with it. She really loved the bracelet and was happy with it. I’m so glad she got to see a picture of it before she died.
The Spring 2013 Collection was released in January, and I was a little nervous. I worried whether or not my fellow stylists would like it. We are pretty hard on pieces that don’t meet our expectations. I shouldn’t have worried – the Meredith Stretch Bracelet is a big hit!

From the description on our website:
A golden pave ball of handset stones lends sparkle to a stretch bracelet accented in beads of wood, ivory acrylic , and golden nuggets.
Now that I’ve seen it in person, I love it! I think it complements my mother’s personality. The neutral, subdued tones play well with others. It’s not flashy, but the sparkle and tassel make it special. It’s the base of a great arm party (a stack of bracelets) and doesn’t overshadow other pieces. The Meredith Stretch Bracelet is part of a collection inspired by the colors of the Southwest, especially the sunsets, and I think it should be a staple in everyone’s spring wardrobe.
Mom, you were right! Your bracelet is beautiful, and everyone who wears it carries a little part of you with them. Did I tell you Gwyneth Paltrow has one? Stylish women are wearing the Meredith Stretch Bracelet in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, and even Germany! Stylists everywhere will tell their customers about the special person for whom the bracelet is named, and I can’t think of a better tribute!
